Today’s photo of the week is one of my favorite skate photos. Took this photo with my buddies camera as he jumps the gap in the school yard.
For the past couple of years I’ve been having dreams in my sleep of playing in a high school basketball game. My teammates I don’t recognize but the coach I can. I’ll be dribbling down the court, making threes and crossing my opponents so bad the crowd stand in a uproar. High fives are exchanged while trotting down the opposite end of the court. But what does it mean? The dream itself feels so real. When I finally realize its just a dream I have this emptiness when I wake up. During my childhood to young adult basketball has always been a huge part of my life. As I grew older my goals of playing pro basketball started to fade away and so did my love for the game. I started running for a few years, hoping to fulfill my urge to compete, but when I go to sleep the sound of the ball hitting the hard wood floor comes back to hunt me. The picture above is one of my good friends/ teammate, Tramaine. This picture was taking during the summer of 2010, he just came back from playing basketball in Germany. Now in Arizona, as an Assistant coach, Tramaine came over for the Thanksgiving holiday and old memories of basketball came about and so did the great moments we shared with the game. We spoke of me picking the game basketball back up but I wasn’t really sure. If I do I without a doubt would have to take my time. But I do know for sure that I haven’t been having those dreams anymore, just silence.
